Install and Setup

Step zero is removing the snap Docker package, if you have it installed, using sudo snap remove docker. Once you've removed the snap Docker package edit /etc/apt/sources.list and add the multiverse repository with the line deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ bionic multiverse. Once you've added the multiverse repository run sudo apt update and then sudo apt install docker.io. At this time you could optionally install Docker Compose with sudo apt install docker-compose. Finally check that the Docker service is running with sudo systemctl status docker. Depending on your system setup you may need to create a Docker group and add your user to it.
